“My husband commissioned a ring from Kinvara as a birthday present, after he had bought some of her ready to wear items previously and we’d been really impressed. I’d hoped to find an electric neon blue Paraiba tourmaline but since these stones are rare, I’d kind of left it up to them to decide my rings fate. Kinvara was incredible. She kept in touch throughout and sent me photographs of masses of different suggestions – of stone, of cut, of clarity, of price(!) and of setting. She explained everything to me – after realising that part of the fun for me was in the learning journey and not only in the end product. “A friend recommended Kinvara to me as both a qualified gemmologist and a specialist in designing bespoke jewellery, so I thought I would get in touch with her soon after my girlfriend agreed to become my fiancée! We knew we were onto a winner from our first meeting, and the contrast between Kinvara and some of the other jewellers we visited was marked: she did not subject us to any hard sell and clearly had our best interests at heart. We chose a beautiful sapphire which was already set in a sample ring; it was no problem to have the setting changed to one which better suited my fiancée. Although it took me a long time to settle on the idea to get engaged (6 years), Kinvara’s patience echoed her ability to deliver. It was critical that this remained discrete for the duration as she is very friendly with my now fiancé and a large group of my friends. Not only is Kinvara an excellent designer, she even managed to teach me a few key things about diamonds by the end. All I knew was that I was to look for a cushion cut diamond and that was largely the extent of my contribution. Over many weeks and consultations Kinvara walked me through the key steps and assured me that this process was worth investing time in. I believe that having someone that knows the recipient of such an important piece of jewellery is integral to achieving the perfect end result. The only thing she couldn’t take care of was a positive response to the question of marriage, but I would argue that the ring that she created went a long way to helping. “The whole build up to the proposal can be overwhelming and I was certainly apprehensive about getting the ring absolutely perfect. However, all these feelings were quickly put to rest by Kinvara, who with her lovely bubbly character immediately put me at ease.
